The Margate Public Library has been faithfully providing books and services to the residents of Margate, N.J., since 1961, but in recent years the building’s outdated roof has been a serious source of concern.
Water had ponded in multiple areas on the 25-year-old surface, and the threat of a roof collapse became more and more real as the stagnant water continued to sit and contribute to the degradation of the roof. In addition to the ponding water, leaks were allowing water into the building, leading to the possibility of further and more costly structural problems. The library had sought several bids to replace the roof, but the lowest proposal was for more than $150,000 and that kind of money was simply not in the budget.
Facing a potential safety hazard and an ongoing structural issue, the library turned to EPOX-Z NRG Cool Roof Coating for a cost effective, long-term rescue strategy. In a little more than a week, EPOX-Z was able to strip the slag off the roof, pressure wash the roof, treat the roof with EPOX-Z’s proprietary mastic designed to reinforce the roof surface and fully coat the entire roof with EPOX-Z NRG – all for a fraction of the cost of roof replacement.
By using EPOX-Z NRG Cool Roof Coating, the Margate Public Library was able to completely eliminate ponding water, stop the leaks and extend the life of its roof for a decade all for an affordable cost. In the end, choosing EPOX-Z made the story of the library’s roof a romance instead of a tragedy.
