IGCC

The International Code Council launched the development of the new 2012 International Green Construction Code (IgCC) initiative, subtitled “Safe and Sustainable: By the Book.”  The historic code, approved in November 2011 after two  years of development, sets mandatory baseline standards for all aspects of building design and construction, including energy and water efficiency, site impacts, building waste, and materials.

The new International Green Construction Code, effective Spring 2012, includes standards for cool roofing in an effort to mitigate the urban heat island.
